Oh, hello!
I’m Varun — a photographer based in Boston, working at the intersection of comedy and public life. I shoot digitally for live performance — comedians, comedy shows, culture-makers — and on 35mm film to document the street: everyday rituals, fleeting gestures, and the unspoken choreography of cities.
At the heart of both practices is the same pursuit: to study connection. I’m interested in how we exist together, how meaning forms in motion, and how photography can make us feel seen — not just as individuals, but as part of something larger. Comedy, to me, is a civic language: it disarms, reveals, and reminds us we’re not alone. It’s where culture speaks its truth aloud. Street photography is its counterpart — quiet, observational, often anonymous. It captures what people do when no one’s performing. Together, they reflect both the public spectacle and the private rhythm of modern life.
My work blends documentation and design, emotion and inquiry. It’s visual research — grounded in human behavior, powered by storytelling, shaped by place. Whether I’m backstage at a comedy club or wandering through city streets, I’m chasing the same thing: the moments that show us who we are.
